William Beattie, Scottish physician and poet. Beattie counted many famous and influential people among his closest friends, including: Thomas Campbell, for whom he wrote a biography; Samuel Rogers, for whom he was executor; Lady Blessington, to whose Book of Beauty annual he often contributed; and Lady Byron, who reportedly "had imparted to him the true reason of her separation from her husband, and that it was not the one given by Mrs. Stowe.". John Britton, English antiquarian and topographer.
